Chakra Media Group and Le Petit Grand Films have greenlit production on WOMB FOR HIRE, the story of a New York couple, who travel to India to hire a surrogate mother from a poor rural village, to carry and bear them a child.  On the surface it is a story about globalization, of first world, colliding with the third world for the advantage of the privileged.  What emerges in the story is the far deeper relationships between individuals transcending religion, race and language as they begin the journey of a new life.  With them we are forced to confront and reexamine our own morals, ethics and values.

The film has been in development since early 2007 and is being produced by Genevieve Castelino, Chakra Media Group, and Nadja K. Rutkowski, Le Petit Grand Films, and will be directed by Kiran Merchant. Producers Genevieve and Nadja have just completed filming the children?s Feature BUBBLE TRUBBLE (http://bubbletrubblethemovie.com/) directed by Sonia Arrubla. In 2006 Kiran Merchant and Genevieve Castelino produced QUARTERLIFE CRISIS with Lisa Ray, a romantic comedy. Nadja Rutkowski is an award winning producer and senior executive at a distribution company.

The trio are also in development on CITY OF DREAMS, a feature film set in Mumbai, India.
