My name is Sutapa Kasibhatla and I am looking for an on air position. So what's new? you ask. I am sure you have been asked that a lot of times. Well you see I am destined to be on TV and become famous :) (or so I believe!).
I have been doing one act stage plays since I was a little girl. Later I graduated to directing and acting in plays. Then I got involved in radio in India. Yes I was an on air radio personality, in English for almost 8 years! It was a blast! Then after I came to this country I did internships with CBS and ABC.
I was also the Advertising and Promotions manager for an indie feature film titled Wings of Hope. I was involved in the entire life cycle of the film. My dad at that time was amazed that I actually get paid to talk! He says if that is the case I could become really rich :) Well, I am still waiting.
But seriously, I have a great personality and I get along with a lot of different personalities. I am smart, intelligent and savvy. I am looking in the DC metro area. I am open to TV hosting positions. |

| I did on stage plays since I was a little girl. I did several stage plays where I was the main protagonist. Then as I grew older I produced, directed and acted in plays. Most of the plays were presented before an audience of at least a thousand people! Then when I was in high school I got involved with the radio in India where I was the DJ. Did a lot of live broadcasts, plays, game shows, debates, group discussions, variety shows etc. Also did a lot of talks and features on various personalities who were prominent on the Indian scene. Did voice-overs for various radio shows and narrated short stories. I also did a lot of plays on the radio. Thus began my fascination with the media. |

FEBRUARY ’98 TO FEBRUARY of 2000: (on a part time basis)
WINGS OF HOPE ( An independent feature film in English)
Advertising and Promotions Manager , VA
* Involved right from the story concept, scripting, editing and rewriting the story
* Was instrumental in selecting the name of the movie
* Helped in the production of the movie
* Was involved in all the processes like auditions, coordinating with the webmaster to monitor what is put up on the web site, writing and editing content, discussing the look and feel of the page etc.
* Did a presentation to prospective investors. We were finally able to raise some money from that group and others.
* As Advertising Manager, I did a lot of strategic tie ups with some web sites to provide a link to our site and also cross promoted our movie on different web sites in various ways.
* I am also the Film Festival Coordinator for the film. Trying to get entries into different film festivals around the world. We got rave reviews when our movie was shown in the Indian Film Festivals held in Bombay and Calcutta.

INTERNSHIPS
June 5th’95-June 10th’95
* Interned at the BDA International & PROMAX conference held in Washington D.C.. Helped in setting up the art gallery, sales of various souvenir items, and office and administrative duties.
September’95-October’95
* Interned at W*USA 9 affiliate of CBS in Washington D.C
* Worked in the creative services department. Went out on shoots for promos and helped on location. Accompanied Joan Gartlan on a story. Also did promo tracking, selected music for a promo that was aired.
* Handled telephones and other administrative duties, selected video and audio clips for promos and attended the news meeting every morning. I also interviewed Chris Gordon the news anchor and wrote an article for the internal newsletter
May’96 - August’96
Interned at MIX 107.3 FM an ABC/Walt Disney radio station in Washington D.C
* I worked in the Programming and Promotions department.
* I worked directly under the PM&OD(Programming Manager and Operations Director), Promotions Director & Music Director.
* I took telephone calls for the above and also handled queries from the listeners about the music and various promotional activities conducted by MIX.
* I also helped in disbursing prizes to the winners of the various contests held by the station. Got the promo material ready before a promo and attended and helped set up at the venue of a few promos.
* Did the inventory of the prize closet and various duties as told. Also helped out in the studio whenever necessary and I helped during one of the major promos that MIX was doing at that time. |
